I do already own some Vetta Toolkits and like to get another one - is there something special ?

Yes, you should use the same name and exactly the same spelling during the order.

Can the VettaToolkit's harm my Vetta ?

No, they can't

Will you do some strange tricks with my Vetta ?

No, the output of the VettaToolkit's are 'normal' Vetta system files. You can install it into the Vetta in the same way as with any official Vetta update.
If you have installed an official Vetta system file update before than you know all you need.

Will Line6 support the modifications, what happened in case of any warranty problems ?

No, Line6 will not support the modification / upgrades. In case you have a warranty problem install an official Vetta system file before you send your Vetta to be repaired.

Can I upgrade to any new Vetta system file Line6 may provide in the future ?

Yes, you can install any old, the current or any future Vetta system file. During any system file update the old data will be erased and overridden with the new one.

Does you Mod works on the digital outs as well ?

Yes, the DI mod works for the direct outs (DO's), both unbalanced and balanced (XLR), as well as for the digital outs, both S/PDIF and AES/EBU and phones.

What is a  stereo DI model ?

All factory DI (AIR II) models are mono. They use the same speaker/mic simulation for both channels (left and right)

The first two new models are mono too.

The 3. model is stereo. The new model 1 will be used on the left side and the new model 2 on the right side.

I have ordered more than one of your Toolkits - is there something special ?

Yes, modify your .syx file by using the toolkits in this order:

1. Vetta Custom Toolkit
2. Vetta DI Upgrade
3. Vetta CAB Upgrade

1. Factory .syx -> Custom Toolkit
(the new file will be in the same directory as the factory.syx - but has the name_m.syx)
2. Install the DI-Upgrade
(swap the .dll from the DI .zip file in case you own the Vetta Head - check the included file readme.txt)
3. Use the output .syx from Custom Toolkit (name_m.syx) as input for the DI-Upgrade
(the new file will be in the same directory - but has the name_m_m.syx)
4. Uninstall the DI-Upgrade
5. Install the CAB-Upgrade
(you need the .dll from the CAB .zip file in case you own the Vetta Head - check the included file readme.txt)
6. Use the output .syx from DI-Upgrade (name_m_m.syx) as input for the CAB-Upgrade
(the new file will be in the same directory - but has the name_m_m_m.syx)
7. Install the output .syx from the CAB-Upgrade (name_m_m_m.syx) into the Vetta

Notes:
-If you do not own the CustomToolkit start at point 3 and upgrade the factory .syx with the DI Upgrade
-If you do not own the DI Upgrade then there is no need for steps 2..4
-If you do not own the CAB Upgrade then install the output from your last tool (.syx file) into your Vetta

Each time a .syx file will be modified by any toolkit a '_m' will be added to the name of the file.
E.g. original filename 'vetta203.syx'  -> Toolkit  ->  'vetta203_m.syx'

C. Technical Questions

What is a Midi interface ?

A Midi interface is the connection between your PC and the Vetta.

For the Vetta, the M-Audio Midi interfaces work best. An USB midi interface is about $50.

What is a Midi dump tool and where can I get one ?

A Midi dump tool is a piece of software. It sends the .syx data to your Midi interface and then to the Vetta and receives data from your Vetta (via the Midi interface) and stores this data into a .syx file.

Here are some links to (free/shareware) Midi dump tools:

Most users reported that the  Bome's SendSX works best.

How to use the Midi dump tool - can you give a step by step instruction ?

Each Midi dump tool works a little bit different - for this example I use the Bome's

If you have already got a current 2.03 .syx file then there is no need for steps 2 .. 6

1. Connect Midi out (Vetta) to Midi in (PC) and Midi out (PC) to Midi in (Vetta)
2. Use the menu 'Midi In' and 'Midi Out' to select the Midi in/out ports of your Midi interface
3. Press the 'Clear Out' and 'Clear In' buttons
4. Press the keys on the Vetta to get the .syx out of him (click for details)
5. Wait - it takes some time
6. Use the menu 'File\Save Midi In As ...' to save the .syx file on your PC (save this file on a save place)
7. Then use the toolkit(s) (click for details)
8. After this you will get a new .syx file (save this file on a save place)
9. Use the menu 'File\Open' to load the upgraded .syx
10. Press the keys on the Vetta to get him ready for 'receive' (click for details)
11. Press 'Send (F4)' on the Bome's
12. Wait ! (until 'Software download complete' will be displayed - It will take a few minutes
13. Press 'Save' (on the Vetta)

D. Trouble Shooting

I can't find the new DI's and/or CAB models on my Vetta Head!

After the installation of the VettaUpgradeToolkit everything works fine for the Vetta Combo.

For the Vetta Head please exchange the file 'VettaUpgradeToolkit.dll' after the installation with the file included in the .zip file.

You should have a file called 'VettaUpgradeToolkit.dll' in the directory you use for the installation of the toolkit.
e.g.: c:\program files\VettaUpgradeToolkit\VettaUpgradeToolkit.dll

Exchange this .dll with the one from the .zip file.

Note: If you own both the DI and the CAB upgrade - then you need to swap the .dll two times. There is a separate .dll for each toolkit.

More information is in the file 'readme.txt' from the .zip file.

I 've got an error message telling me 'Can't convert - please reinstall the tool' - what can I do ?

The tool is not installed in the right way, either the username or the password was not entered EXACTLY as in the email you received after the purchase.

You have to reinstall the tool to use it. Please check the file readme.txt for more details.

I 've got an error message 'Not a Vetta Version 2.03 System File' - but my Vetta runs the 2.03 !

Any Vetta .syx file is 852KB (872306 Bytes) long.

If your file has a different length then it can't be used.

If you have upload this .syx file from your Vetta there are these reasons:

Please try it again using another Midi Dump tool or Midi interface.

I 've got an error message when trying to install the CAB upgrade after using the DI upgrade !

For both the DI and the CAB upgrade the VettaUpgradeToolkit will be used.

Please reinstall the VettaUpgradeToolkit to use it for different upgrades (DI or CAB) and use the right password for the DI and CAB upgrade.

Check the file readme.txt included in the CAB upgrade for more information.

After trying to upload the new .syx into my Vetta the Vetta is dead - what shall I do ?

Don't worry ! Your Vetta is not dead. Only the Vetta operating system is erased. And because of this you can't see anything on the Vetta display. It's not a problem of my upgrades but a general Vetta problem - and well known by many Vetta users.

Most likely your Midi interface is not compatible with the Vetta - if you use an USB interface only the M-Audio ones are reported to work for all users.

Try this:
-switch of the Vetta
-disconnect it form power (unplug it)
-wait an hour
-download the Line6 installer in the meantime (& the latest flash file 2.03)
-download the latest drivers for your Midi interface
-connect the Vetta again
-connect your Midi interface
-try the Line6 installer (follow the instructions from L6)
(I do not use the installer so I don't know how to use it - but some people reported that this helps)

If you ever need to hold the COMP button during startup (L6 installer or direct method) do like this:

-press and hold the COMP button (all the time !)
-switch on the Vetta power (while still holding the COMP button !)
-check the display at different angles - the contrast settings may be wrong and you can see it only from some angle)

I can't find a Vetta 2.03.syx file at the Line6 homepage !

Most likely your Vetta has the 2.03 already inside. So you only need to get it out of the Vetta. Line6 removed the 2.03 OS from their homepage. So if your Vetta has another OS inside - ask in the Forum - surely someone will send an 2.03 OS to you via EMail.

Notes:

There are different OS versions for the Head and Combo.

All the upgrades need the OS 2.03 they will not work with any older or newer version.

E. Other Questions

How does the new models integrate with the old ones ?

1. All old features are the same as before, all old AIR and CAB settings are the same as before
(nothing will be overridden - you will get no replacements  - but add-ons !)

2. You can load all patches from users of  Vetta's not upgraded

3. If your patches include the new features, then users of the Vetta without the upgrade can't use your patches (because they do not have the new CAB's or DI's)

4. The new CAB model can't be stored as a default for any amp

5. The new CAB model can be saved into any memory location

6. The new DI model's will not be stored as 'Global' settings
(Use the 'Channel' setting - see next point.)

7. The new DI model's can be stored as 'Channel' setting.

8. My models sound the same regardless of  the output configuration (2x12 or 4x12)

Can I use Line6Edit after installing the upgrades ?

Yes, you can. To see all the new models in Line6Edit you have to update some files (click for details)
