KNOWN WINDOWS/PS02/SONG EDITOR LIMITATIONS AND ADVANCED SOLUTIONS: 1.) Windows 95 can’t show all patterns in the context menu. This version of the PS02SongEditor needs Windows98 or newer. 2.) You can’t hear the song through the PS02SongEditor yet. Please use the ‘Card Manager’ provided by ZOOM to preview the SongEditor results. 1. Save the songs (with the PS02SongEditor) 2. Export a song to SMF (with the Card Manager) 3. Double click the midifile (use any MIDI player) 3.) The PS02 can change the Pattern only at the beginning of each measure. The Root and Chordtype can be changed in each beat. The PS02SongEditor allows you to change the pattern in each beat! This expands the PS02 greatly. You can build much more complex songs. (The PS02 is able to play these special songs, but can’t edit them) If you edit such a special song (with the PS02) the song will be changed in a way you may not like. 4.) This version of the PS02SongEditor calculates the ‘number of beats per measure’ from the first used pattern of the selected song. The divisions and all calculation are based on this. -- The PS02 needs a ‘continue pattern’ for each measure where no pattern information is entered. 1. In the PS02 the display shows ‘PTN’. The PS02PatternEditor displays this as ‘- -’. 2. If you mix patterns (e.g. some with ¾ and others with 4/4 ..) the SongEditor may not work correctly. 3. If you change the first pattern (e.g. from 4/4 to ¾) the whole song will be changed (e.g. to ¾) Add additional ‘- -’ (continue pattern mark) with ‘Alt’ and left mouse click. Switch off the ‘continue pattern’ generation in the songs/properties menu. 5.) Some song files provided by Zoom seem to have errors in them. (Or I don’t understand them yet) The PS02SongEditor shows an error in “USROCK” and “R’NB2” from the original song set. (No errors found in the Rockset and the HipHopset) 6.) If you insert beats into an empty song the beat will always be created as 4/4. To create a new song with e.g. ¾: 1. Insert ‘1 Beat’ 2. Choose the pattern you like. 3. Change the song. 4. Select the first song again. (The ‘3/4’ will be recognized) 5. Insert more beats and edit the song as you like. B.
