Platform Questions 5. Known Bugs Demo Version Questions: -------------------------------- What can I do with the demo version ? - Test all features of the full version - Test the PS02PatchEditor as long as you like (No time limit) What are the limits of the demo version ? -Only Drive and Cab Parameters are shown and can be changed. -Patch/'Append All Different Patches -> Library' is inactive -Cant Export Library to PS02 Basic Questions: -------------------------------- There are three different *.pch files. Which patch files can be changed ? - Two files can be changed: PRESET.pch and USER.pch - PRESET.pch contains the 60 factory patch presets. (It can’t be changed with the PS02) - USER.pch contains the 60 user patches (It can be changed with the PS02). - PRESET.pch & USER.pch can be changed using the Patch Editor software. This means that you can have total control of all 120 patches available in one load of the PS02 ! - The file FACPATCH.pch is just an unused backup file. Leave it unchanged or just dump it from the system, along with the FACSONGS.pts file. Nether file is needed to load the PS02. What is a Patch Library (*.pslib) ? - A “Patch Library” consists of two files created by the Patch Editor. - You can’t load them directly into the PS02. - A Library can contain all the patches from many patch files, (*.pch). - It can also contain descriptions and other information. Why does the Patch Library Tool produce two *.pslib files ? - A Patch Library consists of two separate files: LIBRARY-NAME.pslib & LIBRARY-NAME.pslib.txt - The LN.pslib file contains the patch data used for the *.pch file. - The LN.pslib.txt file contains descriptive text information displayed at the top of the editor. It can be edited with a text editor outside of the Patch Editor tool if you find that more convenient. Where can I get Libraries ? - One Library is included in the PS02 Patch Editor package. - New Libraries will be available at www.soundside.de - - All new Libraries will be free for PS02 Patch Editor customers. Can I exchange Libraries with other users ? - “Yes”, of course you can exchange all your own libraries. - You are allowed to modify and exchange LIBRARIES you may get from www.soundside.de - You are NOT allowed to convert (to *.pch) and exchange LIBRARIES you may get from www.soundside.de . How can I build a new Library ? - Click [File] [Load (library)] Choose a directory and type the name of the library you want to create. How can I add patches to a Library ? - Use [File] [Import PS02] - The patches of your PS02 file (*.pch) are in the left list box. (always 60 patches) - The patches of your Library are in the right list box. (any number of patches) Can I change a patch or the name of a patch directly ? - “No”, the patches in the left list box are ‘read only’ - The details of the selected patch will be shown in the Details field. - To change patch contents, copy the patch into the library and edit the library contents. Then export the library to a *.PCH file. How do I copy and change a patch ? - Double click on a patch in the left list box (Patches) - This patch will be copied to the right list box (Library) - Select the new patch in the Library. - You can edit this patch (Details) - You can add a description in the textbox of the PS02 Patch Editor. - You can change the name of the selected patch. How can I reload the changed patches to the PS02 ? - Click [File] [Export Library ® PS02] - The first 60 patches of the Library will be stored in the PS02 patch - format (*.pch) - If you have less than 60 patches in the Library the selected patch will - be copied up to Patch 60. Please give me a quick guide. How can I change some of my 60 patches and reload them to the PS02? 1. - Click [File] [Load (library)] Select any directory you want. Insert any filename you want. 2. - Click [File] [Import PS02] 3. - Click [Patch] [Append All Patches ® Library] 4. - Select the patch you want to change (library list box) Make any changes you like. 5. - Click [File] [Export Library ® PS02] Would you recommend this quick method ? - “No”, I would recommend you maintain a library. It’s easy. 1. - Make the first 4 steps from the example above and: Make any changes you like. Add descriptions for your patches like the date of the last change, author, who the patch reminds you of, good uses…etc. 5. - Click [File] [Save (library)] 6. - Click [File] [Export library ® PS02] 3. Advanced Questions ---------------------------------- I have built a library with 60 patches and entered the descriptions (a lot of work). Then I went and changed some of the patches with my PS02 editing functions. I’m having difficulty remembering which patterns have been changed. Also, after I moved the changed ones back into the library, the text descriptions are lost. How can I avoid repetition and loss ? - Load the library using, [File] [Load (library)] - Load the changed patch file using, [File] [Import PS02] - Click [Patch] [Update ALL Patches in the Library] - Done ! This is only possible if: - All patches in your patch files (*.pch) maintain different names. - All patch names are changed only with the PS02 Patch Editor. NOTE: As with the PS02 editing utilities, not all drive types can use the CabType and SpeakerType options. The Patch Editor allows you to make invalid selection combinations which will not have an effect when used on the PS02.
