Can the VettaToolkit harm my Vetta ?

No, they can't

Will you do some strange tricks with my Vetta ?

No, the output of the VettaToolkit is a 'normal' Vetta system files (.vtf). You can install it in the same way as any official Vetta update (Using Line6 Monkey).
If you have installed any official Vetta system file before - than you know all you need.

Will Line6 support the modifications, what happened in case of any warranty problems ?

No, Line6 will not support the modification / upgrades. In case you have a warranty problem install an official Vetta system file before sending your Vetta to be repaired.

Can I upgrade to any new Vetta system file Line6 may provide in the future ?

Yes, you can install any old, the current or any future Vetta system file. During any system file update will the old data be erased and overridden by the new one.

Can I still order the Toolkit for Vetta OS 2.11 ?

Yes, some users like the old OS2.11 best or like to use my additional DI models.

For this users is the old version of the Vetta Toolkit still available.

Can I order only the DI / CAB / Custom Toolkit ?

Version 1.0 of the toolkits consists of three separate toolkits (developed one after another). Since all toolkits were available, 95% of the customers bought the full bundle. To make the installation as easy as possible I decided to create one integrated toolkit (containing all three toolkits).

The old toolkits are still available - but note the old toolkits works for the old Vetta OS 2.03 only.

What happens in case a new Vetta OS will be provided ?

All toolkits were developed for a single Vetta OS version only.
VettaToolkit1.0 was developed for VettaOS 2.03
VettaToolkit2.0 was developed for VettaOS 2.10
VettaToolkit2.11 was developed for VettaOS 2.11
VettaToolkit2.5 was developed for VettaOS 2.50

I will provide free service releases in case any bugs may be found in any toolkit.

In case a new Vetta OS version will be available - and a new toolkit will be developed, then we have two different cases:

If the internal OS structure is about the same as the old OS (e.g. small bug fixes from Line6) - free updates are offered for owners of the latest toolkits.
(from version 2.0 to 2.11 it was a free update)

If the internal OS structure is new or the file format has changed - an update for a reduced price will be offered.
(from version 1.0 to 2.0 it was 60% off.  From version 2.0 to 2.5 it is 65% off)

I have no information about future Vetta OS versions and I can't promise that any updates or new toolkits for (eventually) new Vetta OS versions will be created - free or for any price. 

B.  Installation

What steps are needed to modify my Vetta ?

1. Download the 2.50 .vtf file for your Vetta from the Line6 homepage
2. Make a complete Backup of your Vetta Patches (e.g. with Line6 Edit)
2. Use the VettaToolkit to upgrade this .vtf file (click for details)
3. Use the Line6 Monkey 1.12 (or later) to update your Vetta (see Monkey Notes below)

Note:
Monkey will ask to erase all your user and factory patches - if you run a Vetta Version older than 2.50 - than you must do this step. In case you are running 2.50 - then there is no need to do this - you can cancel the Monkey at this step).

In case you are running the Monkey until it deletes all the user and factory patches. Then you need to reinstall your own patches (e.g. with Line6 Edit)

Monkey Notes:
The Line6Monkey is a free tool from Line6 - please check the Line6 operation instructions.

For the update - using Monkey - do like this:

-Launch Monkey
-In the "Updates" tab, under "Device Firmware", right click on "Flash Memory"
-Click "Update from File....." on the lower right box.
-Browse and locate the output file of the toolkit "VettaCombo_2_50_m.vtf" or "VettaHD_2_50_m.vtf".
-Follow the Monkey's additional instructions for Vetta OS Updates.

If you ever like to go back to the factory OS:

Use Monkey to load the original "VettaCombo_2_50.vtf" or "VettaHD_2_50.vtf" file.

How to Use the VettaToolkit to upgrade the ,vtf file

Each toolkit includes a readme.txt file and a help system please look there for further assistance.

Here are some step by step instructions for the upgrade toolkits:

2.1. Customize the Vetta system file

-To upgrade the Vetta system file use the menu 'File/Modify Vetta System File'
-Select the Vetta system file (.vtf)
-After a few second/minutes (depends on your PC) the message 
 'Converted !' will be displayed
 The new file will be in the same directory as the input .vtf file
 And has an '_m' added to the name.
 e.g. input file: Vetta250.vtf -> output file: Vetta250_m.vtf
-Please check this file (see next question) before using it.
 A corrupt file may lead to a Vetta not working.
 (until you install a working version)

2.2 Check the Vetta System File

-Select the Menu 'File/Check Vetta System File'.
-Select the modified Vetta system file (_m.vtf)
-You should get the Message: 'Vetta Combo File, registered for: <your name>
  or 'Vetta Head File, registered for: <your name>
-This converted file is registered only for your own use.
 Your name will be visible on the Vetta display
 (instead of the String 'Version 2.50')

What is a Midi interface ?

A Midi interface is the connection between your PC and the Vetta.

For the Vetta, the M-Audio Midi interfaces work best. An USB midi interface is about $50.

Does you Mod works on the digital outs as well ?

Yes, the upgrade works for the direct outs (DO's), both unbalanced and balanced (XLR), as well as for the digital outs, both S/PDIF and AES/EBU and phones.

Are the DI upgrades included in Version 2.5 ?

No, there are no additional DI models included in VettaToolkit2.5.
That's why it's only $69.99 (the old toolkit was $99.99).

The factory DI models in OS2.5 are improved - so they sound very close to a mic'ed amp now.

D. Trouble Shooting

 
I 've got an error message telling me 'Can't convert - please reinstall the tool' - what can I do ?

The tool is not installed in the right way, either the username or the password was not entered EXACTLY as in the email you received after the purchase.

In case you use the Windows cut/paste feature make sure NOT to enter any space (blanks) before or after your name.

You have to reinstall the tool to use it. Please check the file readme.txt for more details.

I 've got an error message 'Not a Vetta Version 2.50 System File'

Download the .vtf file again from the Line6 homepage.

Note: There are different files for the Vetta combo & Vetta head. And there are different Toolkits for the Vetta combo & head.

After trying to upload the new .vtf into my Vetta the Vetta is dead - what shall I do ?

Don't worry ! Your Vetta is not dead. Only the Vetta operating system is erased. And because of this you can't see anything on the Vetta display. It's not a problem of my upgrades but a general Vetta problem - and well known by many Vetta users.

Most likely your Midi interface is not compatible with the Vetta - if you use an USB interface only the M-Audio ones are reported to work for all users.

Try this:
-switch of the Vetta
-disconnect it from power (unplug it)
-wait an hour
-download the latest drivers for your Midi interface
-connect the Vetta again
-connect your Midi interface 
-try the Line6 Monkey again (follow the instructions from L6)

If you ever need to hold the COMP button during startup do like this:

-press and hold the COMP button (all the time !)
-switch on the Vetta power (while still holding the COMP button !)
-check the display at different angles - the contrast settings may be wrong and you can see it only from some angle)

E. Other Questions

1. All old features are the same as before, all old CAB settings are the same as before 
(nothing will be overridden - you will get no replacements  - but add-ons !)

2. You can load all patches from users of  Vetta's not upgraded

3. If your patches include the new features, then users of the Vetta without the upgrade can't use your patches (because they do not have the new CAB's)

4. The new CAB model can't be stored as a default for any amp

5. The new CAB model can be saved into any memory location

6. My models sound the same regardless of  the output configuration (2x12 or 4x12) 

Can I use Line6Edit after installing the upgrades ?

The current beta version of Line6Edit 3.0 is NOT working with the upgrades.
