Vinyl DJ Overview
The Vinyl DJ user interface was build like this:
1) Navigation bar (top)
2) Effect Sliders (top/right of player area)
3) Toolbar (below player area)
4) Helpline (buttom)
Use VinylDJ's inbuild music player or your iPod player to play any songs or songlists.
The helpline (buttom) will guide you.
Add any Vinyl effects with the sliders.
Player Controlls
Naviagtion bar
Left: Start/Pause (Starts/Pause your songs and the Vinyl effects)
(Hint: in case you have started your iPod before calling VinylDJ, press Start/Pause two times to hear the VinylEffects.)
Right: The right part of the navigation bar shows the cover of the currently playing song.
Toolbar
Use + to open an additional screen to select any number of iTunes songs or playlists.
Arrow left jumps to the previous song
Arrow right jumps to the next song
? stops VinylDJ and shows this online help page - you have found it ;-)
(Hint: Check this page from time to time to learn about any VinylDJ news or other exciting new iPhone apps.)
PlayerModes
In system settings can be changed the way VinylDJ works
a) Standalone (Use iPodPlayer = off)
Select any songs or playlists from your iPod library all inside of Vinyl DJ - to get the most realistic feeling - like using an old Vinyl player.
b) iPod integration (Use iPodPlayer = on)
Start your songs or playlists selected in your iPod app. Then start Vinyl DJ to add the vibe to your songs. The iPod app will continue to play even when you exit Vinyl DJ - just without the Vinyl vibe.
In both modes can you start, stop, goto next song, goto previous song directly from inside of Vinyl DJ.
Vinyl DJ will display song information as well as show the cover of the song.
Vinyl effects
The five sliders add different Vinyl effects to your music.
Here is a list of the effects added by each slider (left to right):
1. Dust
2. Crackle
3. Scratch
4. Mechanical noise
5. Power cycle hum
Any combination of Vinyl effects can be used. Move the slider to the top to increase the volume of each effect.
Adjust the Vinyl noise to your liking - different settings work for different kinds of music.
After the start of VinylDJ will all sliders be set to minimum volume (off).
FAQ
I can't hear the sounds / How to change the volume ?
In order to hear the sounds with your iPhone switch on the ringer tone (with the iPhone hardware switch).
Change the volume with the hardware switch while the app is started.
iPod touch (first generation) has no inbuilt speaker, use your headphones. In order to hear the sounds activate your system sounds via 'General-Sound Effects' set it to both and turn up the volume (Settings - Music - Volume Limit).
